Arsenal have signed teenage talent Evan Mooney from Scottish Premiership side St Mirren for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has completed a permanent move to the Gunners' academy, with St Mirren securing what they describe as a "substantial fee" plus significant performance-related add-ons and a sizeable sell-on clause.
Mooney, a product of St Mirren's youth academy, made an impressive start to his senior career with 23 appearances across all competitions since his first-team debut in October 2024. The versatile teenager, who can operate in attacking midfield or as a center-forward, quickly established himself as one to watch in Scottish football.
His Premiership bow came in a defeat to Hearts, but better moments followed. Just two months later, Mooney announced himself on the big stage by coming off the bench to score a dramatic 88th-minute equalizer in a thrilling 3-2 victory away to St Johnstone.
Despite his young age and limited experience, Mooney has already tasted silverware. He featured as a substitute in St Mirren's stunning Scottish League Cup final triumph over Celtic in December 2025, where the Buddies pulled off a memorable 3-1 upset.
The Scotland under-19 international, who has earned six caps at youth level for his country, is now ready to face a new challenge in English football.
St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson gave the move his full backing, telling the club's official website: "It's a fantastic opportunity for Evan at a club the size of Arsenal. It was a terrific deal for the club as well and we're very well protected in terms of add-ons and sell-on should Evan go on to fulfill the potential that we believe that he has."
Robinson added that Mooney, his family, and advisers were "very keen to go to Arsenal," and extended his best wishes to the teenager for his future career.
