We are exploring a deal to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, with David Ornstein of The Athletic reporting on June 12, 2026 that the move is being looked into and Fabrizio Romano confirming the same evening that an initial approach has been made. Tzolis is a 24-year-old left-sided winger and Greece international, and he is expected to be available for around €40m, which is roughly £34m at current rates.
Ornstein was explicit that this does not close off other avenues. He reported that a move for Tzolis would not affect our separate interest in Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers or any of the other attacking targets being tracked. Romano framed it the same way, posting that Tzolis is "among options considered but not only one" and that "Rogers/Barcola and more remain top targets," while adding that the Jeremy Monga deal is a separate one for the future and advancing.
The timing makes sense given what is happening on the left of our attack. Trossard, whose contract expires in the summer of 2027, is reported to be advancing in talks to join Besiktas, and his departure would leave a clear gap behind Gabriel Martinelli on that flank. Tzolis fits as cover and competition there rather than as a guaranteed starter, which is consistent with the price and the profile.
There is a genuine reason to take the player seriously beyond the price tag. Tzolis scored 13 goals and added one assist from out wide for Club Brugge in the 2025-26 season, a strong return for a wide forward, and he rebuilt his reputation in Belgium after an unconvincing spell at Norwich City earlier in his career. He had also previously attracted interest from Crystal Palace, so this is not a name appearing from nowhere.
What this tells us about the window is the more useful read. Andrea Berta is keeping several attacking options live at once rather than committing to one, and a €40m winger who can play across the front line is one of the more attainable names on a list that also includes Rogers and Bradley Barcola. For now this is early. No agreement has been reached and the contact is at the approach stage, but two reporters of this standing aligning on the same day is not something to wave away.
